ALFRED, NY - The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) released its initial 2011 Division III national poll today and Alfred University is ranked 12th.

AU (2-0, 0-0 Empire 8) remained ranked 16th in the nation this week in the D3football.com poll. The Saxons are coming off a 36-12 victory over St. Lawrence University on Saturday. Alfred and Salisbury (21st) are the only Empire 8 Conference teams ranked in the AFCA poll.

AU is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 12:30, when the Saxons play their Empire 8 opener at home against Springfield.
