ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon on Merrill Field.

Zach Adler’s unassisted goal 4:24 into the second half provided the winning margin as Stevens improved to 6-2-0 on the season (1-0-0 in Empire 8 Conference play). With the loss, Alfred falls to 3-4-1 (0-2-0 Empire 8).

Stevens outshot Alfred 16-0. Senior goalie Elliot Thorpe (Highlands Ranch, CO/Thunder Ridge) made seven saves in goal for Alfred. Paul Killian was not called upon to make a save in notching the shutout for Stevens.

AU returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m., when they take on visiting Hilbert College.
