ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University football team is ranked in the top 10 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III national poll, released Monday afternoon.

AU (3-0, 1-0 Empire 8) is ranked 10th in the AFCA poll, up two spots from the 12th-place ranking the Saxons held in the initial AFCA poll released last week. Alfred is coming off a 30-22 defeat of Springfield in the Saxons’ Empire 8 Conference opener.

Alfred is ranked 14th in this week’s D3football.com national poll, up two spots form the 16th slot AU held last week. D3football.com is a website dedicated to coverage of Division III football.

AU is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. at Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher.
