ROCHESTER, NY-The Alfred University men’s soccer team defeated host Roberts Wesleyan 1-0 Friday evening in a non-conference match.

Freshman midfielder Eric Deemer (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) netted the lone goal of the contest off an assist from sophomore forward Thomas Esposito (Farmingdale, NY/Kellenburg) at the 33:10 minute mark.

Senior goalie Elliot Thorpe (Highlands Ranch, CO/Thunder Ridge) recorded six saves for the Saxons. Michael Scavone made five saves for Wesleyan (6-6-1).

Alfred (5-5-2, 0-3-0 Empire 8) returns to action Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. when they take on host Penn College.
