10/10/11

ALFRED, NY - Eric Rockwood (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone), a senior placekicker on the Alfred University football team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.

Rockwood was honored for his play in the Saxons’ 32-29 overtime win over visiting Hartwick on Saturday. He made all four field goal attempts, including the game-winning 29-yarder in overtime, to remain perfect (nine-for-nine) on field goals this season. He also made both extra point tries and in his first game since being inserted as the starting punter, averaged 41.4 yards on five punts, with three landing inside the Hartwick 20-yard line.

Rockwood shares the weekly honor with St. John Fisher defensive back Ryan Seymour.
