Find out what happens when a mysterious new novel makes its way into the hands of a book club, changing the lives of everyone who reads it-especially two sisters whose lives are intertwined in ways that one of them regrets in "Death of a Book Club."

Directing the play is Eliza Beckwith, a member of the AU class of 1978, who currently serves as co-artistic director of New Directions Theater, New York City, who with Richard Willett, brought "The Flid Show" to Alfred in 2003. Beckwith is a past managing director and still member of Ensemble Studio Theatre where she directed four plays during its yearly "Marathon of One Acts."

Director Beckwith has collaborated on original scripts with playwright Humphrey, also a screenwriter and television writer based in New York City, numerous times in the past. Beckwith chose "Death to the Book Club" for production at AU because "I couldn’t put it down; it was the first one that I read start to finish."

The cast of characters consists of all AU students.
Also on the production team are faculty member Marketa Fantova, associate professor of theater design, who will provide the scenic lighting and design while Zachary Hamm, Performing Arts technical director, will be the technical director of the production.
