Alumnus 'Letting Go' in public exhibition
10/20/11

Greg Leshe, AU class of 1985, writes about "Letting Go", an exhibition in which he will be performing a new interventional public work outdoors, entitled, "Personal Telemetry" on the street at dusk in Newark, NJ, for the City Arts Council’s annual Open Doors event on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. Outdoor performances and happenings will run all day into the evening.

"My performance will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. Elements of ‘Personal Telemetry’ include my illuminated mobile body tethered to a steel ring with tree trunk elevating Christmas lights, attached to a winter sled covered in dried spruce trees, followed by a weather balloon, and audio transmissions of my voice mixed over air traffic control communications with arriving flights at JFK.?

"Curators Jeanne Brasile and Jade Lien of Rogue Video and Performance have selected a series of out-of-doors performances, interventions, videos and temporary artworks in Newark, New Jersey for its annual Open Doors 2011 event. This event will activate the block that encompasses Broad Street, New Street, Central Avenue and Halsey Street from 3 to 9 p.m. The exhibition will take place rain or shine."
