Lady Saxons thump SUNY Canton, 80-65

CANTON, NY - The Alfred University women’s basketball team breezed past host SUNY Canton, Friday evening to pick up their sixth win of the season.

Sophomore forward Grace Williamson (Olean, NY/Olean) recorded her fifth double-double in just seven games netting a game and career-high 25 points, while pulling down a game-best 10 rebounds to lead the Saxons (6-1, 0-0 Empire 8).

For the game, AU held a slight advantage shooting as they shot 43 percent from the floor to the Roos’ 39 percent. Each team finished with 35 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Sarah Federico (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels) finished with a career-high 17 points on eight-of-nine shooting, adding six boards, and freshman guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) netted 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Senior guard Christina Jordan (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY/Cornwall) (game-high nine assists) and freshman forward Lindsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) each chipped in with nine points.

Kaitlin Myers scored a tem-best 22 points and had eight rebounds, and Corrine Riegel netted 13 points to lead SUNY Canton (2-6). Jackie Sedlacek scored 10 points, and five rebounds.

AU returns to action next Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m., at Cazenovia.
