ALFRED, NY - Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy), a freshman guard on the Alfred University women’s basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie Player of the Week.

Cleary set a new season-high of 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added six rebounds, an assist and a steal, as the women’s basketball team defeated host Cazenovia, 74-45, Saturday afternoon.

This marks the second time Cleary has earned rookie of the week honors from the Empire 8 this season.

Alfred (7-1, 0-0 Empire 8) returns to action Saturday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m., when they take on visiting Penn State-Behrend.
