Saxon men and women ski at Bristol

BRISTOL, NY - The Alfred University men’s and women’s Alpine ski teams competed Saturday and Sunday at Bristol Mountain, in races hosted by the University of Rochester.

Each AU team placed fourth out of nine teams. The AU men took fifth in Saturday’s giant slalom and fourth in Sunday’s slalom. The AU women were sixth in the GS and took third in the slalom races.

Sophomore Mike Stasko (Batavia, NY/National Sports Academy) led the Alfred men, taking second in the slalom and 10th in the GS. Senior Ryan Nanni (Batavia, NY/Batavia) was 16th in the slalom and 19th in the GS; freshman Jeremy Osak (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was 15th in the slalom and 23rd in the giant slalom; senior Luke Masi (North Jersey, NJ/Jefferson Township) was 21st in the slalom and 29th in the GS; and senior Andrew Jacobs (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) was 20th in the slalom.

Freshman Aniken Palola (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield) paced the AU women, taking third in the slalom and ninth in the giant slalom. Sophomore Rebecca Spitz (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) was eighth in the slalom and 21st in the GS; junior Claire Dvorak (Tully, NY/Tully) was 12th in the slalom and 27th in the giant slalom; freshman Haley Alexander (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) was 29h in the slalom and 31st in the GS; and junior Ashley Frazell (Andover, NJ/Newton) was 30th in the slalom and 34th in the giant slalom.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5, at the AU-hosted races at Swain.
