Several Saxons earn indoor track and field Empire 8 all-conference honors

ALFRED, NY - The Empire 8 announced its all-conference teams for indoor track and field Sunday and several Alfred University athletes were honored.

The Empire 8 chose its all-conference teams based on the results of Saturday’s conference championship meet at Ithaca. Event winners were given First Team recognition, while runners-up earned Second Team honors.

Senior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) earned Second Team honors in two individual events - the 200-meter dash (22.94 seconds) and 400-meter dash (51.32 seconds). He and junior Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), freshman Sean Locker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post West) and senior Randy Brito (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes) earned Second Team honors in the 4X400-meter relay (3:30.18).

Other AU men named Second Team conference all-stars were senior Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) in the 5,000-meter run (4:41.41) and sophomore Jason Osborne (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) in the shot put (13.75 meters).

Sophomore Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) was the AU women’s all-conference recipient. She earned Second Team honors in the pole vault (3.20 meters).

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Cornell.
