Saxon ski teams compete at home races
SWAIN, NY - The Alfred University men’s and women’s Alpine ski teams competed Saturday and Sunday the AU-hosted races at Swain.
Nine teams competed in Saturday’s giant slalom races and Sunday’s slalom races. The AU men took third in the giant slalom and sixth in the slalom; the Alfred women were sixth in the GS and fourth in the slalom.
Sophomore Mike Stasko (Batavia, NY/National Sports Academy) led the Alfred men, taking fifth in the slalom and seventh in the GS. Freshman Jeremy Osak (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was 17th in the slalom and 19th in the giant slalom; senior Luke Masi (North Jersey, NJ/Jefferson Township) was 30tht in the slalom; and senior Ryan Nanni (Batavia, NY/Batavia) was 18th in the GS.
Freshman Aniken Palola (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield) paced the AU women, taking fifth in the slalom and 11th in the giant slalom. Sophomore Rebecca Spitz (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) was 11th in the slalom and 22nd in the GS; and junior Claire Dvorak (Tully, NY/Tully) was 16th in the slalom and 26th in the giant slalom.
Alfred is in action next on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11 and 12, at the AU-hosted races at Greek Peak.
