An iron pour is an exciting event for all.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Alfred University Foundry Guild will hold its annual fundraising event, "Pour Your Heart Out," at the foundry, north of the village at 1016 Rt. 244, from 2-6 p.m.

"Pour Your Heart Out" is a charity event in which participants donate $10 and design a "relief sculpture" to be cast in hot metal by foundry guild students. The event is open to the community, adults and children (with supervision).

Last year, $2,500 was raised; the proceeds were split between Doctors Without Borders and the Crandall Hook and Ladder Co., Alfred.

This year’s donations will again be split, this time between Doctors Without Borders and the Foundry Guild Student Club to help pay for participation in national and international conferences.

The event will also feature tee-shirts sales, a raffle, silent art auction, and performance by DJ Millhouse. Food and beverages will be available, provided by the foundry guild.
