Saxon indoor track and field teams compete at Cornell Kane Invitational

ITHACA, NY - The Alfred University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell University. There were no team scores, but several athletes from the AU men’s and women’s teams turned in top-10 performances.

Senior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) led the AU men with a pair of fifth-place finishes among a field that included athletes from several Division I schools. He took fifth in the 400-meter dash (51.43
seconds) and 200-meter dash (23.06 seconds).

Other top performers for the AU men’s team were: senior Randy Brito (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes), eighth in the 500-meter dash (1:08.07); junior Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), 10th in the 500-meter dash (1:08.39); sophomore Jason Osborne (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), 12th in the shot put (13.42 meters); and sophomore Isaiah Cassin (Candor, NY/Candor), 12th in the high jump (1.84 meters).

Sophomore Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) paced the AU women, taking sixth in the pole vault (3.30 meters) and 16th in the high jump (1.55 meters).

Other top performers for the Saxon women were: junior Amy Morrissey (Hornell, NY/Hornell), ninth in the 500-meter dash (1:24.84); sophomore Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), 10th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.76 seconds) and 16th in the 400-meter dash (1:04.65); freshman Tracie Forrester (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth), 18th in the 500 meters (1:26.93); and junior Erin Johnstone (Werst Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), 19th in the 1,000-meter run (3:27.60).

The team of Forrester, Johnstone, Morrissey and junior Jennifer Miranda (Bronx, NY/Academy of Letters) took ninth in the 4X800-m,eter relay (10:57.49).

AU is in action next on Friday, Feb. 17, at the RIT Tiger Invitational. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
