Lois Rockcastle ’77 recently received the Alaska Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award for 2011, presented annually to a nurse practitioner for professional leadership and contributions to health care in Alaska. Lois has been a member of the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association for 20 years, serving as president, editor of the organization's newsletter, and as a member of the conference committee. She currently works for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Michelle Plucinsky ’93 will present a new lecture series, "Open Your Eyes," on March 4 at The Glass Academy, an educational art glass studio in Dearborn, Mich. where she is a founding partner. The talk, given by environmental activist Lynn Henning, will focus on factory farming in Michigan and how individuals can help to change these farming practices.
Jonas Sebura ’03 recently collaborated with artist Alex Gartlemann on a new installation exhibition, "Unattainable," which opened Feb. 10 in the Doris Akers Gallery at Water Street Glassworks in Benton Harbor, Mich. The exhibit, which will be on display through April 14, was inspired by the mystery surrounding mountain climber George Mallory's final Mount Everest expedition.
