Scott, Graudons lead Saxons at Tiger Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY - Senior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) won two events and sophomore Rebecca Graudons won one as the Alfred University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed Friday at RIT’s Tiger Invitational.

Scott led the AU men’s team with victories in the 400-meter dash (50.48 seconds) and 200-meter dash (22.97 seconds). His time in the 400 meters met ECAC qualifying standards. Graudons won the pole vault (3.35 meters) and placed third in the high jump (1.58 meters), with both performances meeting ECAC standards. The ECAC indoor championships are March 2 and 3 at The Armory in New York City.

Also turning in top-10 finishes for the AU men’s team were: sophomore Jason Osborne (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), fourth in the shot put (14.24 meters); senior Evan Roush (Newport, PA/Newport), eighth in the triple jump (13.13 meters); and junior Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), eighth in the 400-meter dash (52.27 seconds).

Other top performers for the Alfred women were: sophomore Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.72 seconds); freshman Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech), fifth in the 60-meter dash (8.31 seconds); freshman Tracie Forrester (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth) and junior Jennifer Miranda (Bronx, NY/Academy of Letters), second (1:27.29) and sixth (1:31.82), respectively, in the 500-meter dash; senior Elisabeth Phillips-Jones (Watertown, MA/Watertown), ninth in the 1,000-meter run (3:21.30); junior Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia), eighth in the 200-meter dash (27.41); and junior Kelly-Jo Beck (York, NY/York), ninth in the shot put (10.63 meters).

The AU men’s and women’s teams are in action next on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, at the New York State championships at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.
