AU’s Scott, Graudons sweep weekly Empire 8 track and field honors

ALFRED, NY - Senior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) and sophomore Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield), members of the Alfred University track and field teams, have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.

Scott was named Male Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week and Graudons was named Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Both were honored for their performance in Saturday’s RIT-hosted Tiger Invitational.

Scott led the AU men’s team with victories in the 400-meter dash (50.48 seconds) and 200-meter dash (22.97 seconds). His time in the 400 meters met ECAC qualifying standards. Graudons won the pole vault (3.35 meters) and placed third in the high jump (1.58 meters), with both performances meeting ECAC standards. The ECAC indoor championships are March 2 and 3 at The Armory in New York City.

Graudons, the school record-holder in the pole vault and jump, has also qualified to compete in both events at the NCAA Division III indoor track and field championships March 9 and 10 in Grinnell, IA. AU is in action next on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25, at the New York State championships at Hamilton College.
