ORLANDO, FL - The Alfred University men’s tennis team edged Marywood University, 5-4, Friday morning to finish its five-match Spring Break trip to Florida with a 3-2 record.

The Saxons, who improved to 7-3 overall on the season, got singles wins from senior Nathan Garletts (Havertown, PA/Haverford), 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-0 in second singles; junior Stefan Nonnenmann (New Providence, NJ/New Providence), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in fourth singles; and sophomore Peter Benoit (Gasport, NY/Barker), 6-2, 6-2 in fifth singles.

Nonnenmann and senior Nick Schneider (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) won first doubles, 8-2, while Benoit and Garletts claimed their third doubles match, 8-3.

AU also defeated Cornerstone and Kings colleges, while dropping matches to Coe and Berry colleges,
