ALFRED, NY - Jessica O’Sullivan (Groton, MA/Groton Barnstable Regional), a freshman on the Alfred University softball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Week.

O’Sullivan was honored for her play in two games last week, when she threw two shutouts in a pair of AU victories. She allowed three hits in seven innings of a complete-game 4-0 win over visiting Pitt-Bradford, striking out six. In a complete-game six-inning 10-0 victory at Penn College, O’Sullivan allowed two hits and struck out eight.

For the season, O’Sullivan is 5-2 with a 2.10 ERA and 46 strikeouts.

AU (9-7, 0-0 Empire 8) won all four games played last week, sweeping doubleheaders from Pitt-Bradford and Penn College. The Saxons are in action next on Saturday, March 31, when they open Empire 8 Conference play with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against visiting Nazareth.
