ALFRED, NY - Alfred University senior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) will compete in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships.

Scott qualified for the NCAAs - May 24-26 in Claremont, CA - after winning the 400-meter dash at the ECAC championships Friday (May 18) at RPI in a school-record 47.99 seconds.

He will be seeded 13th out of 20 runners in the event; top-seeded Ken Cunningham, a senior from McMurry, has a seed time of 47.33 seconds. Preliminary heats for the 400-meter dash will begin at 6:10 p.m. Friday (May 25); the finals will be held at 3:50 p.m. Saturday (May 26).

In addition to his ECAC title, Scott has also won titles in the 400-meter dash at the Empire Conference and New York State championships meets.
