University to host annual 5K run/walk Reunion Weekend

The annual Alfred Community 5K Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2012 as part of Alfred University’s Reunion Weekend events.

Registration is $10 before Friday, June 1. After June 1 and until race day the registration fee will be $17. Age groups for the race include 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
All proceeds benefit the Gary Horowitz Service Learning Program at Alfred University.

The first 50 people who register will receive a T-shirt. T-shirts will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis after that.

Event-day registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the Village Bandstand, Main Street, leading to the 9 a.m. race start time. Starting at the Bandstand, the course encompasses the University campus and surrounding neighborhoods. A water stop will be located halfway through the course. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water.

All race finishers will receive ribbons while medals will be awarded to first, second, and third overall finishers and male and female group winners. Door prizes and refreshments will also be given away.
