Alumna now ‘driving’ Squeaky Wheel’ in Buffalo

Squeaky Wheel/Buffalo Media Resources has hired Jaclyn "Jax" Deluca, AU class of 2004, as its executive director. She joined the agency in 2005 and has served as programming director since 2007.

A native of Boston, MA, Deluca’s AU degree is in electronic and media arts. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in arts management at the University at Buffalo.

Since joining Squeaky Wheel, Deluca has curated 12 exhibitions, organized more than 200 screenings and programs, and oversaw the agency’s national and international residency programs.

The agency’s board president said: "Her passion for media arts and what a media arts center like Squeaky Wheel can be for a community underscores her vision for the organization."

Deluca serves on the board of the WNY Book Arts Collaborative and is active with several local agencies including Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center and The V.A.U.L.T., and is a member of the Arts Partners for Learning leadership team.

She is an internationally exhibited artist and musician and was last year awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts strategic opportunity stipend to present lectures at the Multimedia University in Cyberjawa, Malaysia, and perform at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center.

Founded in 1985, Squeaky Wheel is an independent film, video and multimedia resources for the local community.
