Samuel A. Miller of Kinsman, Ohio, a senior materials science and engineering major in the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University (AU), has been awarded a 2011-12 scholarship from Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.
Miller, the son of Melissa and Aaron Miller, will receive a cash award of $2,000 for his senior year of engineering study. Tau Beta Pi Scholarships are awarded to junior members on a competitive basis of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.
An AU Honors Program student, Miller is an active member of the New York Sigma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi; the president of the University’s Material Advantage chapter; and a member of Keramos. Miller has been a varsity member of AU Men’s Soccer Team and is a 2009 graduate of Badger High School.
Tau Beta Pi is the world’s largest engineering society. Membership represents the highest honor that may be attained by an engineering student and is awarded on the basis of high scholarship and exemplary character.
