Bergren Forum speaker to discuss future of particle physics
Roger Loucks, associate professor of physics at Alfred University, will present “CERN, the Higg’s Particle, and the Future of Particle Physics” as part of AU’s ongoing Bergren Forum.
His talk will begin at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 in Nevins Theater, located in Alfred University’s Powell Campus Center.
The forum will highlight the importance of the Higgs boson particle in forming a complete particle physics model and will include limitations of current models.
Loucks earned his Ph. D. in physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana.
The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Alfred University Division of Human Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, meets Thursdays during each academic semester at the University. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch; coffee and tea will be available.
