AU women’s tennis team even record with 7-2 win at Pitt-Bradford
BRADFORD, PA — The Alfred University women’s tennis team evened its 2012 record at 2-2 with a 7-2 victory Wednesday at Pitt-Bradford.
Freshman Emma Jackson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) improved to 3-1 on the year in singles play with a 6-3-6-0 win in first singles. Also earning singles wins for the Saxons were sophomore Brennan Ferguson (Destrechan, LA/Ursuline), 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in second singles; freshman Kaitlin Flaherty (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), 6-2, 6-1 in third singles; sophomore Emily Eisenbuerg (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay), 6-1, 6-0 in fifth singles; and senior Devyn Devantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), 6-1, 6-0 in sixth singles.
Alfred took two of three doubles matches. Jackson and Ferguson won first doubles, 8-4; Flaherty and senior Melissa Boyer (Bloomfield, MI/Lahser) took third doubles, 8-2.
AU is in action next on Friday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m. at home against Penn State-Behrend.
