ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University women’s tennis team lost 5-4 to visiting Oswego State Saturday afternoon.

Winning singles matches for AU (4-5) were: sophomore Brennan Ferguson (Destrechan, LA/Ursuline), 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 in second singles; freshman Kaitlin Flaherty (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), 6-1, 6-1 in third singles; and senior Rebecca Switzer (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse), 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) in sixth singles.

In doubles play, senior Melissa Boyer (Bloomfield, MI/Lahser) and Flaherty took third doubles, 8-5.

AU is in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m. at Elmira.
