Party in Pink Zumbathon to benefit breast cancer awareness

Alfred University (AU) will host a “Party in Pink” Zumbathon® from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at McLane Center Physical Education Center on the AU campus. The Zumbathon® is part of the Passionately Pink for the Cure events sponsored by AU, and all proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Host instructor is Denise Eck of Scio. She will be joined by other instructors, including Angela Delahunt and Erica Aftuck of Wellsville; Mark Johnson of Olean; Ann Quinn and Kelly Rodriquez of Rochester; Linda Presutti of Belmont; and Cory Sawyer and Jim Scholefield of Syracuse.

John Lewis of Hornell will be the dee-jay.

“Last year, we raised $1,432 through the Party in Pink Zumbathon® and we are hoping to raise at least $2,000 this year,” said Eck.

There will be a basket auction in conjunction with the Zumbathon®.  “We have received some wonderful donations of goods and services from area businesses,” Eck said.

Participants will have an opportunity to bid on more than 50 baskets; donations have been received from ?LaForge Disposal Service, Inc.; Prima Salon;?Hart's Jewelers;?Hamilton Shoes; ?Capture the Moment; ?Sandy's Place; ?Bath & Body; ?Lia Sophia Advisor Becky McKay;?A Hairstyling Encounter; ?Zumba Fitness with Denise Eck; ?Karisma Salon; ?Trend Addictions;?Kimberly Glover Massage;?Renewal Wellness;?Leitzell's Repair; Mary Kay Consultant Tiffany Florentine; ?KS Photography;?The Store;?Top Hat;?AVI  Food Service; Uncle Alfred's Sub Shop;?Little Sicily;?Creative Hair Design;?West Side Liquor; ?Kimberly's Hair Salon; PAK Nails; The Parlor; Honey Pot Chocolates; ?AU Book Store; ?Geralyn Gough, CFP; ?TNT Gym and ?Pampered Chef, as well as a number of individuals.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Student tickets are $5 each in advance and at the door. Spectator admission is $5 per person.
