HOBOKEN, NJ  — Host Stevens defeated the Alfred University volleyball team 3-0 at the Empire 8 Conference tournament Friday evening.

Stevens defeated AU (1-16, 0-4 Empire 8) by scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-12. Junior Paige Jensen (Weiser, ID/Weiser) had five kills and 10 digs to pace the Saxons.  Junior Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had 13 digs; junior Samantha Wood (Newfield, NY/Newfield) had four kills; and juniors Janelle Gallipeau (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and Tara Barone (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) had eight and seven assists, respectively.

AU plays two Empire 8 matches at Stevens today: at 10 a.m. against Ithaca and at 3 p.m. against Hartwick.
