AU Soccer downs Keuka, 3-2 10/10/12
KEUKA,NY- The Alfred University men’s soccer team beat Keuka on the road in a 3-2 decision, Wednesday evening. For the game, AU (3-10-0, 0-4-0 Empire 8) held a close 17 to 16 shot advantage over Keuka. In net, junior goalie Samuel Guy (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) made seven saves throughout the 90 minutes of play for the Saxons to earn the victory. Alfred opened up scoring in the game when senior forward Frankie Mannino (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) let a shot fly and junior forward Jeffery Thomas (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) was there to send the rebound home in the ninth minute. Mannino would then score off a penalty kick in the 25th minute to give the Saxons a 2-1 advantage heading into intermission. Keuka would even out the score, at 2-2, as the second half resumed. The game was winding down, but not before junior defender Uriah Kashmann-Myrow (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) would score an unassisted goal to give AU the victory in the 81st minute. Alfred returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2:30 p.m. against Houghton College in an Empire 8 matchup. |
