ITHACA, NY — The Alfred University women’s tennis team will compete at the New York State championship tournament, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 12-14, in Ithaca.

Thirteen teams are competing in the Ithaca College-hosted tournament, which begins Friday with two rounds of doubles play and the first round of singles play. Pairings and updated singles and doubles brackets can be found on-line at http://bombers.ithaca.edu/sports/2012/10/11/WTEN_1011123627.aspx.

Following are Alfred’s first-round pairings for singles and doubles:

First singles: Freshman Emma Jackson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) vs. Elizabeth McGrail of RIT.

Second singles: Sophomore Brennan Ferguson (Destrechan, LA/Ursuline) vs. Winnie Yates, Vassar.

Third singles: Freshman Kaitlin Flaherty (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) vs. Brockport’s Katelyn Richenburg.

Fourth singles: Senior Melissa Boyer (Bloomfield, MI/Lahser) vs. Brooke Kaylor, RIT.

Fifth singles: Senior Cady Spencer (Homer, NY/Homer) vs. Aislin Shea of Hamilton.

Sixth singles: Emily Eisenberg (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay) vs. St. Lawrence’s Samantha Miller.

First doubles: Jackson and Ferguson vs. Christine Nunez and Allison Young of Ithaca.

Second doubles: Spencer and Eisenberg vs. Hallsey Leighton and Remy Raevsky of William Smith.

Third doubles: Flaherty and Boyer vs. Sarah Stromski and Nicole Derose, Brockport.
