AU equestrian team sweeps weekend hunt seat shows at Lehman Farms

PITTSFORD, NY — The Alfred University English equestrian team took first place in a pair of weekend shows, held Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 3 and 4), at Lehman Farms in Pittsford.

 

AU freshman Stephanie Zimicki (Lockport, NY/St. Mary’s) took first place in novice equitation on the flat and novice equitation over fences at Sunday’s show and was named High Point Rider. Junior Amalia Maslen (Chardon, OH/Andrews Osborne) was named Reserve High Point Rider after taking first in intermediate equitation on the flat and second in intermediate equitation over fences.

 

Other first-place riders for AU Sunday were: senior Sarah Schron (Whitehall, OH/ECofT) in advanced walk-trot-canter; freshman Nicole Zanetti (Sayville, NY/Sayville) in novice equitation over fences; and freshman Haley Argersinger (West Monroe, NY/Paul V. Moore) in beginner walk-trot-canter.

 

Senior Amelia Keyes (Webster, NY/Penfield) was second in both open equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat; senior Lauren Carli (East Bethany, NY/Alexander) was second in walk-trot; sophomore Casey Duncan (Stuarts Draft, VA/Stuarts Draft) was second in novice equitation on the flat; sophomore Ayla Schildkraut (Rochester, NY/Penfield) was second in advanced walk-trot-canter; sophomore Olivia Costich (Penfield, NY/Harley School) was third in open equitation over fences; freshman Brittany Green (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) was third in novice equitation over fences; and junior Amanda Pellino (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream North) was third in advanced walk-trot-canter.

 

Earning first-place blue ribbons for AU in Saturday’s show were: Costich in open equitation over fences; freshman Sarah Jackson (East Syracuse, NY/Manlius-Pebble Hill) in beginner walk-trot-canter; Keyes and Maslen, both in intermediate equitation on the flat; and freshman Cassandra McCarn (Gourvereur, NY/Gouverneur) in beginner walk-trot-canter.

 

Keyes was also second in open equitation over fences; Carli was second in walk-trot; Schron was second in walk-trot-canter; junior Annie Bailey (Waynesburg, NY/Waynesburg) was third in advanced walk-trot-canter; sophomore Avery Sandler (Israel/ Atidm Hamich Lamin) was third in intermediate equitation over fences; sophomore Artsede Scarseth (Berkshire, NY/Ithaca) was third in advanced walk-trot-canter; and Zimicki was third in novice equitation over fences.

 

The AU English team is in action next on Nov. 11 at Cornell.
