Students set up activities to recognize local, campus veterans
Several Alfred University (AU) students and organizations are working to recognize and appreciate local veterans, including student veterans, veterans currently serving on the AU faculty/staff, and AU retirees.
On Friday, Nov. 9, Alfred University will host a veteran’s luncheon in the Knight Club. Attendees will hear about ideas for a new, on-campus Veterans Club.
On Monday, Nov. 12, AU’s Drawn to Diversity group will create a VIP Parking Lot for veteran students and staff members as appreciation for their service. As they arrive for classes and work, veterans will be greeted with a friendly face, a reserved parking spot, and a table of baked goods and coffee.
If you are a veteran and would like your own reserved parking space for that day, or if you would like to bake a snack for the table, please email Michael Downie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like us to help identify veterans in the area, please email Downie with their names so Drawn to Diversity may reach out and invite them to this and similar events.
