AU English equestrian team takes second at Cornell

ITHACA, NY — The Alfred University English equestrian team placed second Sunday at a show hosted by Cornell University.

 

In tying for Reserve High Point Team honors, AU pulled ahead of Ithaca and now stands atop the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II, Region I team standings.

 

Haley Argersinger (West Monroe, NY/Paul V. Moore), in beginner walk-trot-canter, and junior Amelia Maslen (Chardon, OH/Andrews Osborne), in intermediate equitation on the flat, each earned first-place ribbons for the Saxons. Maslen also took second in intermediate equitation over fences.

 

Other top riders for AU included: sophomore Olivia Costich (Penfield, NY/Harley School), second in open equitation on the flat and fifth in open equitation over fences; freshman Brittany Green (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley), second in novice equitation over fences; senior Amelia Keyes (Webster, NY/Penfield), second in intermediate equitation on the flat and third in intermediate equitation over fences; sophomore Casey Duncan (Stuarts Draft, VA/Stuarts Draft), second in intermediate equitation on the flat and fourth in novice equitation over fences; junior Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield), second in advanced walk-trot-canter; and freshman Stephanie Zimicki (Lockport, NY/St. Mary’s), third in novice equitation on the flat and fourth in novice equitation over fences.

 

The AU English team is in action next on Dec. 8, when the Saxons host a show at the Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center at Maris Cuneo Park.
