Hilbert tops Men’s Basketball, 77-67

ALFRED, NY-  The Alfred University men’s basketball team fell to Hilbert College in a 77-67 decision, Saturday evening in a non-conference matchup.

Senior guard Tim Costello (Windsor, NY/Windsor) scored 10 points in the first half to keep the Saxons ahead of Hilbert heading into intermission as they lead 32-27.  Junior center Steve Lothridge (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) pulled down nine rebounds.  AU forced eight turnovers, shot 40 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arc, and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Hilbert pulled ahead midway through the second half, forcing Alfred into eight turnovers as they did not look back.  For the game, Alfred shot 40 percent from the field, 31 percent from beyond the arc, and 73 percent from the free throw line.\

Junior forward Terrell Rankin (Buffalo, NY/Sweet Home) led the Saxons, dropping 13 points and pulling down four rebounds.  Junior forward Jason Ruback (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) netted 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.

AU (1-3-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) next face Wells College Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m.
