Men’s Basketball fall to Wells College in OT, 79-77
AURORA,NY- The Alfred University men’s basketball team fell to Wells College in overtime, 79-77, Tuesday evening, on the road.
The Saxons were led by junior guard Thomas Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY/Townsend Harris) and sophomore center Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadaga Valley) who scored 21 and 15 points, and pulled down nine and six rebounds. Senior forward Sean Curran (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) (eight points, six rebounds) also forced a game-high four steals.
Although AU trailed at halftime (34-27), they outscored the Express 41 to 34 in the second half. Exchanging the lead most of the second half with Wells, Tsatsis was able to make a clutch layup to give Alfred the lead (68-66) with 42 seconds left. Wells would even the score with a layup at the 29 second mark and neither team would score until overtime. In overtime, Wells would gain a 75-71 advantage to secure them the game as time expired. For the game, Alfred shot 44 percent from the field, 19 percent from beyond the arc, and 58 percent from the free throw line.
AU (1-4-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. against Cazenovia College.
