Saxon ski teams end season at Regionals
BRISTOL, NY — The Alfred University men’s and women’s Alpine ski teams competed Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23 and 24, at the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) Mideast Regional championships at Bristol Mountain. The AU men finished 10th, while the Saxon women were 11th.
Alfred’s men’s and women’s season ended Sunday, as only the top two teams at Regionals advance to next month’s USCSA National Championships.
The Alfred men placed ninth in Saturday’s giant slalom, while the AU women took 10th. Senior Steve Barton (Dansville, NY/Dansville) placed 12th in the GS to lead the Saxon men. Sophomore Jeremy Osak (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was 27th, and freshman Cody Towner (Batavia, NY/Batavia) was 40th.
Freshman Holly Mager (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) was Alfred’s top skier in the GS, taking 25th. Junior Rebecca Spitz (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) was 38th; senior Claire Dvorak (Tully, NY/Tully) was 39th; junior Dianne Mattar (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) was 41st; and freshman Kaitlyn Tepper (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was 43rd.
In Sunday’s slalom, the Alfred men took 10th and the AU women were 11th. Spitz finished 25th to pace the Saxon women. Dvorak was 33rd; sophomore Alexandra Feeney (Vail, CO/Battle Mountain) was 34th; and Tepper was 37th.
Lloyd was the AU men’s top skier in the slalom, placing 26th. Towner was 33rd and Cilino was 36th.
