Saxons drop first match at Keuka College volleyball tournament

KEUKA PARK, NY -- The Alfred University volleyball team fell to the host team Friday in the first day of action at the Keuka College Tournament.

 

Keuka (3-0) defeated Alfred (2-3) in three sets, winning by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-14.

 

Alfred was led by senior Samantha Wood (Newfield, NY/Newfield) with four kills and three blocks; senior Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) with four kills and six digs; and senior Paige Jensen (Weiser, ID/Weiser) with four kills, two blocks and five digs.

 

Also for AU, junior Taylor Kiernan (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) had 10 digs; freshman Mary Lou Patnaude (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had two service aces and six digs; and freshman Core' Oppliger (Neuchatel, Switzerland/Lycee Jean-Piaget) had six blocks.

 

Alfred plays two matches Saturday as the tournament concludes: at 11 a.m. against SUNY Alfred and at 3 p.m. against Penn State Behrend.
