Artist alumna launches advocacy art project
3/27/14

Sheila L. Kalkbrenner, artist and owner of SheilaLynnK Art Studio, Wellsville, and a member of the AU Class of 2001, writes that she has recently launched the biggest art project she has ever attempted: Living With Arachnoiditis: An Art, Adaptability and Empowerment Project (2014) which encompasses a portrait of: arachnoiditis survival, its origins, the humanity living it, and the power to change it.
The Project is intended to send an empowering message for change to arachnoiditis survivors and their support networks, persons living with chronic pain, administrative bodies governing medical policies resulting in adverse outcomes, professionals teaching/administering healing through art, employers who must accommodate arachnoiditis in the work place, and other artists with disabilities.
