Alumnus offers ‘Secret Invitation’
Work by Daniel Buckingham, a member of the AU Classes of ’79, ’92, is featured in a solo exhibition, “Daniel Buckingham: ‘Secret Invitation,’ running through Aug. 10, 2014 at The Everson Museum, Syracuse.
The exhibition guide notes: “Buckingham’s triple arch pavilion, Secret Invitation, is informed by an eight-year bicycle trip the artist took around the world. Immersed in the history of the Silk Road, which facilitated the transmission of goods, ideas, culture, and religion, Buckingham’s social sculpture is intended to serve as a space to meet people from our community, share stories and even, as the artist suggests, fall in love.”
Daniel is a professor of sculpture at Pratt MWP in Utica, an institution created in 1999 when Pratt Institute in Brooklyn joined forces with Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in Utica.
The Everson Museum is at 401 Harrison St., Syracuse. The exhibits are open Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon-5 p.m.; Thursdays, noon-8 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
