Christakis '99 re-elected to his second term of national leadership society presidency
Dr. Michael Christakis, AU Class of 1999 and a member of the University Board of Trustees, has been re-elected to a second, two-year term as national president of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the national leadership honor society.
Christakis, assistant vice president for Student Success and public service professor at the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY), also serves ODK as a trustee of its Foundation. He was national vice president for Circle Standards 2002-12. Christakis is a charter member and was founding president of the Alfred University Circle of ODK and is a charter member of the University at Albany Circle.
At Albany, Christakis is chief assessment officer, supporting the ongoing assessment and evaluation efforts of the division’s 13 units and provides leadership on matters related to divisional planning, professional development, communications, and risk management. In addition to his administrative duties, he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in public administration and policy.
Christakis holds a master of public policy degree and Ph.D. from the University at Albany’s College of Public Affairs and Policy.
He is married to AU alumna Christa (Nyman) Christakis ’01, a member of the AU Women’s Leadership Center Advisory Board. The couple resides in East Greenbush with their three daughters Katerina, Victoria, and Anastastia Michael.
