Alumna to ‘Decipher’ light, color, space
A solo exhibit, “Decipher,” by Kimberly Watters, AU Class of 2014 who just completed her master of fine arts degree in glass, opens June 27 at the Mount Dora (FL) Center for the Arts. There will be an artist reception for Kimberly, tagged an Emerging Artist for 2014 by the center, on Friday, July 11; the show runs through Monday, July 28.
“Decipher” is described by the Mount Dora Center as “a sculptural exploration of perception, light, color and space. Kimberly communicates with her audience beyond written and oral conventions through the materiality of glass and light. Implementing code, symbols and metaphor, she directs her viewers to look beneath the surface of the observed in order to decipher the underlying organizations of phenomena.”
The Mount Dora Center for the Arts is at 138 E. 5th Ave. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and by appointment Saturdays and Sundays.
