Heitmeyer ’10 ‘Temporality’ in exhibit
Sarah Heitmeyer, AU Class of 2010, joins a fellow Genesee Pottery artist-in-residence to open “Temporality” Friday, Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. in the Firehouse Gallery, Genesee Center for Arts and Education, 713 Monroe Ave., Rochester. Admission is free.
Sarah specializes in architectural tile and wall sculptures.
“My work is a study of one moment: the moment in which we experience something phenomenal but have yet to understand it,” she said. “Abstracted landscape is used as a point of departure to explore the intersection of tangibles and intangibles, such as the material history of a single ceramic tile and the illusionistic space created by a sea of them,” Sarah explained.
The two-artist display of “Temporality” will be on view through Friday, Aug. 22. The Firehouse Gallery is open Mondays-Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
