McAllaster ’80 acting president at Rollins
Craig McAllaster, AU Class of 1980 was named acting president at Rollins College, Winter Park, FL, earlier this summer.
At a special meeting on June 9, the Rollins Board of Trustees appointed the former dean of the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins to serve as acting president until a new president is selected. The normal cycle on campus for a presidential search is a full academic year.
Craig had recently retired as dean to return to the faculty. He brings to the acting president’s position 20 years’ experience at Rollins as an administrator and faculty member. He has served on a number of local corporate boards and has consulted on leadership with many corporations.
Craig holds two master’s degrees and received his Ed.D. from Columbia University, where his dissertation won a national competitive research award. The Board of Trustees said it found Craig to be a strong collaborator, communicator, and decision maker. It also noted his solid understanding of the higher-education accreditation process from his service on more than 20 AACSB accreditation site visits.
Rollins, founded in 1885, is a comprehensive liberal arts college nationally recognized for its distinctive undergraduate and selected graduate programs. Rollins was the first college opened in Central Florida and is now the oldest recognized college in the state.
