Mandel ’63 heads transportation firm designed to assist the disabled, elderly
Fort Myers Beach, FL resident and councilman Alan Mandel, AU Class of 1963, is the new chief executive officer of Good Wheels, a Southwest Florida transportation company that aids the disabled, disadvantaged, and elderly.
Mandel, who served as mayor of Fort Myers Beach from March 2013 to March 2014, said “I was pleased to be offered the position. I look forward to helping guide the organization.” Mandel was also formerly vice president of operations for Jacobson Stores.
Good Wheels was founded in June of 1990 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation to meet the door-to-door transportation needs of the disabled, disadvantaged, and elderly in Lee County. It then expanded its service area to include most of Southwest Florida and is currently operating as the community transportation coordinator and major transportation provider for the transportation disadvantaged in Lee, Hendry, and Glades counties.
