Work by Cabanas ’74 will find you ‘Wandering thru the Tide’ in Maine gallery
Friendship, Maine artist Pam Cabanas, AU Class of 1974, will open a solo exhibition – “Wandering thru the Tide” - at the Richard Boyd Art Gallery, Portland, Maine, on Monday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. The exhibit will be on view to the public from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Tuesday, Sept. 30; admission is free.
Much of Pam’s work has its beginning in “plein air”, inspired by the “stunning visuals and huge hears rooted deep in the harsh and ever changing coast of Maine. My work seeks to uncover the chords that bind the love of place with the creation and viewing of fine art.
“My exploration of the uninhabited islands of the Muscungus had led me into a series of painting that I hope blend the shocking beauty of the coastal Maine environment with a self-portrait easily accessible to the hearts of my viewers. Working in two divergent mediums, soft pastel and monochromatic ink wash, I move ever closer to my artistic goals.”
Pam is a full-time artist with some part-time breaks such as working as a docent for the Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, Maine.
The Richard Boyd Art Gallery is on Peaks Island, Maine at the corner of Island Avenue and (16) Epps Street in the first building on the right, first floor.
