Women's Leadership Center
The Women's Leadership Center builds on Alfred University's heritage as the first truly co-educational institution in the nation. Here,
studentt explore and fulfill their leadership potential personally, professionally, and in their communities. We do this by bringing powerful female role models to campus, fostering connections between female students and AU graduates, and offering leadership-building experiences both within and outside of the classroom.

Alfred's Newest Talent
The ANT program offers first-year students the chance to learn the skills they need to contribute immediately on campus in a variety of leadership roles. For more information, contact the Assistant Dean for New Student Programs.

Western NY Leadership Conference
Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2009
Alfred University hosted last year's conference, co-sponsored by Canisius College, University at Buffalo, St. Bonaventure University, Niagara University, and AU's HEOP program. Over 100 people attended to learn about the social change model of leadership and meet students from across the region.

Other opportunities

  • Student Senate is our governing body, responsible for allocating thousands of dollars to clubs and organizations. Every year students can run for office or serve on a variety of standing and ad-hoc governance committees.
  • The Student Activities Board picks top talent for the annual Large Act Concert, including Gym Class Heroes and Maroon 5. Students run the green room and interact with the performers.
  • Peer Educators initiate and lead programs to improve campus health and safety.
  • Students write, direct and star in Friday Night Live, a hilarious comedy troupe in the tradition of SNL.
  • Student Athlete Advisory Council represents athletic teams to discuss issues ranging from NCAA policies to campus facility questions.
  • Students organize and run Hot Dog Day, an event that attracts thousands to Alfred every year, and raises money for local charities.
  • We encourage students to create programs and events that improve student life at AU. Our annual Student Innovation Award recognizes (and gives cash to) those leaders.
  • Alfred University hosts a local chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership society. ODK’s "Student Leader Hall of Fame" pays tribute to alumni who have left a lasting impression on Alfred University through their undergraduate leadership.
