Safe campus
While Alfred's location ensures a high level of safety and security, the University is well aware that substance abuse and illegal behavior can happen anywhere and has put in place a staff that is committed to providing professional safety and security services to the academic community, and educating its members on how to be aware of safety and security issues.

Staffing
The Alfred University Department of Safety and Security is supervised by the University Security Officer and the Director of Safety and Security and is staffed by a team of trained and certified students. The department enforces university policies and municipal and state laws, in support of the academic mission of the university.

Eighteen blue light emergency phones are located throughout the campus and security aides and guards provide escort assistance as do members of individual residence hall communities.

Awareness and prevention
Presentations are made each year to members of the University community which heighten personal and community awareness of fire and safety procedures, issues of personal safety and well-being, as well as drug and alcohol awareness.

Emergencies
Alfred University has a comprehensive emergency response plan in place as well as a system for text message alerts. Emergency contact numbers >>>
