Cathie L. Chester,
PsyD., LMHC
Director, Counseling & Student Development Center
A National Certified Counselor, Cathie has provided counseling services to Alfred students since 1987. Her professional interests include personal development during the college years, learning problems, identity issues, prevention and resolution of trauma and abuse, and the role of culture in mental health. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, emphasizing the use of student strengths in problem-solving and self-management. Cathie enjoys her family, the outdoors, and learning new things. |
Pam Schu, RN, M.S. Ed., C.H.E.S.
Health and Wellness Educator
A National Certified Health Education Specialist, Pam brings almost twenty years of experience to Alfred University. Her interests include positive youth development, the influence of families and social environments on student health behaviors, and strengthening students’ personal health knowledge, skills, and competence. Pam enjoys cross-country and alpine skiing, hiking, exploring new places with her family and friends, and knitting. |
Sarah E. Covell, MS, LHMC, NCC
Counselor
A licensed mental health counselor, Sarah has worked with persons of all ages, from 8 to nearly 80, in educational, juvenile justice and private practice settings. Her counseling approach is client-centered and strengths-based. Sarah's professional interests include the positive psychology movement and exploring the mind-body connection through mindfulness practice. To regenerate, Sarah enjoys hiking and camping, yoga, meditation, reading, gardening and spending time with her Smooth Fox Terriers. |
Edward Huebner, M.S.W.
Counselor
Ed holds his Masters Degree in Social Work and joins us from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. His professional interests include working with athletes, self-harming behaviors, depression, and working with couples and groups. Ed’s therapeutic approach is interpersonal and existential. His eclectic style works to empower students in their development. Ed enjoys playing and coaching soccer, biking, running, eating, and reading. |
Kimberly O'Rourke
Secretary and Receptionist
Kim has been employed at Alfred University for 16 years. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Support Staff of the Year award for 2003-2004. Kim enjoys meeting new students and collaborating with other Student Affairs Offices to provide programming. Kim loves to horseback ride, being outdoors, and her two lively teenage daughters.
