Morning Session - 8:30-11:30 a.m.: Junior Vehicle Engineering for students who have completed grades 1, 2, or 3
Afternoon Session - 12:30-3:30 p.m.: Collision Cars for students who have completed grades 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8
Location: Olin Building, Room 207, Alfred University Campus
Camp Fee: $150/week

Program
This program provides great hands-on learning! Students will creatively build and modify vehicles applying basic engineering principles and using unique LEGO® kits. This is an integrated science and math class. Students learn a variety of concepts throughout each 4-day program, including:
- Basic Engineering Principles
- Friction, Forces, Motion and Aerodynamics
- Gears and Gear Ratios
- Electric Motors and Energy
- Problem Solving
- Communication Skills
- Junior Vehicle Engineering (grades 1-3): Students will creatively build and modify different vehicles* including everyday vehicles, concept cars, construction machines and more using our unique LEGO® kits.
- Collision Cars (grades 4-8): Students will use our unique LEGO® kits to build a variety of battling machines*. This is a class of exploration, problem solving, and risk taking with a goal of learning and experimenting with how machines work and compete.
*Please note: Students do not get to bring home any of the LEGO® projects they create.
Instruction
Top quality instruction and learning materials are provided by faculty from All About Learning, Inc., whose classes feature science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts and 21st century educational skills of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, agility and adaptability, curiosity and imagination.
Schedule
Students attending the morning session (grades 1-3) must be dropped off at the classroom each day by 8:30 a.m. and must be picked up at 11:30 a.m. Students attending the afternoon session (grades 4-8) must be dropped off at the classroom by 12:30, and picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
How to Enroll
Enrollment is limited, so prospective campers are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible. Enrollments will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until each session is full. (The minimum enrollment needed to run each class is 12. The maximum allowed for the morning session is 16. The maximum allowed in the afternoon session is 22.)
Please complete the enrollment form and return by June 21, with your $150 payment, to: Office of Summer Programs, Alfred University, 1 Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY 14802. Checks should be made payable to Alfred University. Major credit cards are also accepted. (If paying by credit card, feel free to fax enrollment form to us at 607.871.2045.)
Cancellation Policy
Full refunds will be made for cancellations received by 3:30 p.m. on July 3, 2013.
We cannot make refunds to students who cancel after July 3 because instructors, materials, and classroom spaces are arranged based upon the number of students expected and cannot be changed after that date.
