This camp is held on the Alfred University campus in our recently remodeled Galanis Family Arena in the McLane Center and is for women basketball players going into 10th, 11th or 12th grade (high school classes of 2022-2024). Campers will be instructed on every aspect in the game of basketball, giving them an opportunity to improve their skills by working with AU players and coaching staff. Each camper in attendance will receive a T-shirt and tour of campus (optional). Lunch is also provided!
The camp will be directed by Alfred University's Women's Basketball Coach Michael Moskowitz.
Coach Moskowitz was named the ninth Head Coach of the Alfred University women's basketball program in April of 2018. He comes to Alfred University from SUNY New Paltz where he served as an assistant coach for three years. In that position he aided in recruiting, practice planning, scouting, skill workouts, and film study coordination among other responsibilities. During his tenure, the Hawks went 58-26 (.667), making the SUNYAC Tournament three times and winning it twice. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2017 prior to bowing out to UMass-Dartmouth, 83-80.
Over the three years, Moskowitz helped New Paltz improve its averages in points scored, points allowed, field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, free throw percentage, assists and turnovers committed.
Prior to New Paltz, he spent one season as the student assistant for the Oneonta State Men’s Basketball team where he helped with coordinating game film, individual workouts and practice planning. During that season, the Dragons went 13-13 while defeating #5 Williams College in their season opener. They continued to the 2014-15 SUNYAC Tournament where they fell in the quarterfinals.
Before moving up to the collegiate ranks, Moskowitz was the JV Girls Basketball Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Unadilla Valley Central School where he coached former Alfred University basketball player, Amanda Off ’17. While at AU, Off scored 1,350 points, which ranks second all-time in program history.
Since 2013, Moskowitz has served in various roles at a variety of basketball camps including the SUNY New Paltz Basketball Camp, New York Knicks Basketball Camp and Greg Koubek Overnight Basketball Camp. He has also served as the Head Coach of the Triple Threat, an AAU basketball team, from 2016-2018.
